BSA’s client and partner, Green Peak Energy, is a provider of Solar Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) for businesses, developing and owning renewable energy solutions including solar power plants. Their value proposition is to offer capital free, cost saving power to businesses.

The owner of the Mitre 10 Geelong South retail store was seeking to access the benefits of solar including reduced grid energy consumption and reduced electricity costs. Prior to the installation, the total grid electricity consumption at this site was 255MWh which cost the store approximately $60,000 in annual electricity spend.

A critical decision factor for the facility owner was the offer of a zero capital investment arrangement with Green Peak Energy. In addition, the project requirements included a quality product and installation, delivered safely with no impact to the operations of their site, being a retail centre with high traffic.

The facility owner wanted to have the benefit of the solar system by Christmas 2018, just under four weeks from contract signing.

The solution for Mitre 10 Geelong South, was a new 99kW solar system that is estimated to generate 120MWh in the first year saving the owner $6,000 per annum on energy costs at zero capital expenditure.

363 quality REC solar panels were installed along with Fronius Eco and Symo string inverters and a Clenergy aluminium racking system. It is expected to offset 142 tonnes CO2 annually.

BSA provided an in-house NMI (National Metering Identification) approved remote metering solution to facilitate ongoing transactions between the Solar PPA Provider and the client.

BSA will undertake the ongoing maintenance of the system including remote fault and performance monitoring and reporting, warranty services, reactive maintenance, panel cleaning, and preventative health checks.
